1998 Mazda MPV AWD?

Thinking of buying one of these as a winter car. Its the V-6 model and seems
like a nice enough vehicle. Did a fairly thorough check of it but planning
on taking it to an independent mechanic for a more detailed look. Anyone
know of any particular things I should ask him to look at that might be
specific to this model?

What kind of mileage do the newer MPVs get?

I've got a decade old RWD type and I'm lucky to see 20mpg(on a 200 mile freeway
drive) 16-18mpg around the city.
