Mazda 1990 2200 PU just quit about a block from home.

There was no warning, it just stopped. There is no fuel being pumped into the
carb. I thought it might be frozen. It is minus 4C here today and won't warm up
any time soon.
I suspect it is the fuel pump.
They are only $58 bucks CDN.
Is this an easy job. I'm not fond of vehicle work but it would cost me this just
to get towed to a shop.
It's on the block with two bolts or so I'm told.
Should I take a shot at this?

I have an 86 B2000 which has a carb and O2 sensor called a feedback carb
system. As far as I know a carb system does not use the electric fuel pump
mounted inside the fuel tank but uses a mechanical fuel pump driven off of
the camshaft at the back of the cylinder head on the passenger side. Have
you verified that the carb is actually out of gas and not receiving any from
the fuel pump?

I had my truck just die as if someone turned off the ignition a few years
ago. A quick check and I found I had no spark. The ignition module in the
distributor that Mazda calls the igniter had burned out.

If your vehicle does have an electric fuel pump mounted inside the tank its
a job best done with as little fuel in the tank as possible. If you live in
a cold climate where they use lots of salt on the roads in the winter be
prepared to break off most of the screws that hold the pump/fuel gauge
adaptor into the tank leaving you with fewer screws to hold it together
unless you drill them out.
